Dry Needling

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is another technique widely used by physiotherapists. It involves the process of inserting fine needles (acupuncture needles) into areas of dysfunctional muscle. It is extremely beneficial in improving myofascial (muscle) pain , neuropathic and chronic pain. The needle is (often painlessly) inserted into a target muscle or muscle group, and repetitively advanced into the targeted area. When the muscle is stimulated, it will often involuntarily twitch (a cramp like sensation), ensuring a restoration of normal muscle fibre alignment and more importantly a reduction in pain. All of our practitioners are qualified “in the art” of dry needling and use it regularly as a means of treatment in various kinds of musculo-skeletal disorders. We also have a strict needling policy which includes stringent hygiene procedures hence ensuring the utmost care for our patients. Our reception staff will be more than happy to discuss any further queries that you may have.
